We first wrote about Austinite Christie Barany and Courtney Turich, who lives in Denver, when they first launched the Monkey Mat. It was a portable mat for when your kids or babies needed a clean surface to sit upon. And the genius was it was portable, washable and actually folded back up into its original bag.
Then they met “Shark Tank” and got a $100,000 investment from Mark Cuban and Lori Greiner in April 2014. This past month, they completed a $25,000 KickStarter to bring a quilted mat that would would be all the things the original mat was, but also soft and cushy. You can get the new quilted one for $29.99 at MonkeyMat.com or Amazon.com, and it will also be available at the Container Store after the beginnng of the year.
