Earlier this month, we wrote about a new chief executive officer coming to Girl Scouts of Central Texas in July, Paula Bookidis. She replaces Lynelle McKay.
Last week Girl Scouts USA announced that McKay will be joining the national program as the chief customer officer. She joins Sylvia Acevedo, Girl Scouts USA chief executive officer, who also came from Central Texas.

Lynelle will be accountable for Movement-wide membership health and growth, girl programming, leadership support, and council chartering, among other strategically vital responsibilities. She brings with her tremendous corporate and Girl Scout experience.
Lynelle joins us from Girl Scouts of Central Texas (GSCTX) where she served as chief executive officer for five years, masterfully transforming GSCTX from being among the five councils experiencing the greatest membership challenges to being a top-performing council. Under Lynelle’s skillful leadership, the GSCTX team has increased girl and adult member retention for the past five years, is currently in its third consecutive year of girl membership growth, and has restored financial stability, including the creation of a healthy reserve of operating cash. The Texas council, which serves nearly 30,000 members from 46 counties across the state, is also in its fourth year of executing its master property plan to renovate and sustain council properties for the next generation of Girl Scouts.
Prior to assuming the lead at GSCTX, Lynelle’s corporate career spanned over 20 years of successful leadership roles at Motorola and Freescale Semiconductor, culminating in her position as senior vice president and general manager of what was at the time the $1 billion networking and multimedia business of Freescale. She led a global organization of more than 2,400 employees, with teams in the U.S., Europe, Mexico, Israel, India, and China.
Born and raised in Hawaii, Lynelle is a proud fourth-generation Japanese American. She and her husband, Jim, have two adult sons. She holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering, has avidly served her community and mentored women in STEM throughout her career, and is passionately committed to the Girl Scout mission.
