This week I’m offering five costumes you can make at home with things you probably have or can get quickly. Find the others @austin360.com/raisingaustin.
Watch this video and see how we did it. (The instructions are also below.) Share your own DIY costumes #360Costumes.
Superman
Supplies:
Superman T-shirt or blue shirt and gold marker
Blue long-sleeved shirt or sweatshirt
Red towel, sheet or a red T-shirt
Safety pins
Red underwear
Blue tights or blue sweatpants
Boots
Instructions:
If you have a Superman T-shirt use it. If not take a blue T-shirt and a gold marker to create the logo. Wear it on top of a long-sleeved blue shirt. You can add padding with towels or a pillow to create muscles if you like.
Pin a red towel, sheet or T-shirt to the back of the blue shirt with safety pins. If you have time, you can create the Superman logo on the cape with a gold marker or yellow construction paper taped on.
On the bottom, wear red underwear on top of blue tights. Finish with boots.
Variations:
Change out the color scheme and shirt and you’ve got Batman or a lucha libre wrestler.
