School is coming!!! If you live in the Austin Independent School District, the Back to School Bash on Saturday is a great resource for you. Free backpacks and school supplies is just one of the reasons to attend.
Here are some others:
- Free immunizations by Austin/Central Texas Care Van (Children must have shot records.)
- Free backpacks and school supplies for Austin ISD students (Children must be present to receive a backpack, while supplies last.)
- Free haircuts from jcp salon
- Carseat installation demonstrations
- Door prizes and more!
It’s all happening from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Palmer Events Center, 900 Barton Springs Road.
You don’t have to mess with parking, though. Take a shuttle beginning at 7:30 a.m. and running every 30 to 45 minutes at these locations:

- Covington Middle School, 3700 Convict Hill Road
- Guerrero Thompson Elementary School, 102 E. Rundberg Lane
