We have had several readers point out that putting a kid in a shopping cart is a dangerous thing. For our back to school section, we showed 8-year-old Lukas, standing up on a cart held by 12-year-old Kaitlyn. Indeed, about 24,000 kids are injured each year from falls in shopping carts.

Don’t forget to belt kids into the front section and don’t use the basket as a seat or let kids sit underneath the basket.

That being said, let’s remember that our photo shoot was a very controlled environment with a non-moving cart and three adults around to watch for any danger. No child was injured in this photo shoot. (I, of course, stabbed myself accidentally with a safety pin).
