Since March, I’ve been working on a story about Belle and Abby, two Austin sisters who have a rare disorder that has been called childhood Alzheimer’s. Next week, Belle, 6, is going to start an FDA clinical trial for a new medication to block the disease’s progress. Abby, who is almost 2, will get the same shot, but not be part of the trial.
The family is trying to raise $300,000 through a Go Fund Me site. https://www.gofundme.com/savingbelle We’ll follow them through their journey and share their story in June.
You can help before that. Crush Fitness, http://www.crushfitness.com, is launching a new class series called Crush for a Cause. Crush classes include cardio using treadmill and weight training and resistance exercises in a 55 minute workout. Attend a workout for $30 and 50 percent will go to the charity. After class, enjoy free snacks and beverages.
The first Crush for a Cause helps Saving Belle and Abby and is happening 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
The next one is 10:45 a.m. May 21 and will help Team in Training to raise money for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
