Insure.com offers its annual Mother’s Day Index. It tries to estimate what the jobs moms do are worth. This year, according to the index, we get a 1/2 of a percent raise. Our duties as childcare worker, cook, teacher, chauffeur and the like would have earned us $65,522.65 if we actually got paid for what we do.
Here’s how Insure.com figured it out:
Childcare worker: 2,080 hours a year, at a hourly wage of $10.75 for $22,360
Social director: 480 hours at $18.20 for $8,736
Teacher: 400 hours at $20.43 for $8,170
Cook: 728 at $10 for $7,280
Chauffeur: 468 at $14.63 for $6,844.50
Maid: 520 at $10.18 for $5,291
Personal assistant: 156 for $11.03 for $1,719.90
Meeting, event planner: 64 hours at $21 for $1,344
Designer: 40 hours at $23.48 for $939.20
Private detective: 40 hours at $1.08 for $843
Accountant: 26 hours at $24.70 for $642.20
Grounds maintenance worker: 52 hours at $11.73 for $609.70
Licensed nurse: 24 hours at $18.43 for $442.20
Hairstylist and cosmetologist: 26 hours at 411.58 for $300.95
So what’s missing from this list?
I would like to know where head zookeeper is? I’m currently managing the lives of a dog, two cats, a chinchilla, four fish and a snail.
